Molecular sieve is the core component of every PSA gas generator — it performs the actual gas separation. Sieve quality directly determines your nitrogen/oxygen purity, recovery rate, and energy efficiency.
Oil is the #1 sieve killer. Oil-free compressed air is critical. Even trace oil vapor (<0.01 mg/m3) coats sieve pores, reducing capacity and halving lifespan from 5-8 years to 1-2 years.
Gradual drop in N2/O2 purity. When it falls below your process requirement, replacement is due.
Longer adsorption/regeneration cycles indicate reduced sieve working capacity.
More compressed air needed to achieve the same gas output — rising energy costs.
Fine sieve dust in downstream filters indicates mechanical degradation. Needs immediate attention.
